Noxious WEEDS
It’s spring, which means mud and weeds. Watch for THISTLE on your property. As the season goes on, you’ll see stems growing with purple flowers that spread hundreds of seeds nearby.

canadian thistle | kill before it blooms
Whispering Pines Residents are required to kill all weeds per our RRCs, especially this one, which can and will spread like wildfire if it is allowed to bloom. You can use a D.I.Y. weed killer or a broad-leaf weed killer like Roundup.
DIY THISTLE POISON
1/2 cup of salt
8 cups of vinegar
1/2 tsp of liquid dish soap
If you find thistle with purple flowers or white seed heads, cut off the tops, put them in a bag, and throw the bag in the trash. This will help prevent the spread of the weed.
GOOD NEWS
The POA works with other landowners outside of WP in our general area and alerts them to the dangers of Canadian Thistle. It’s a team effort! Thankfully, we have Thistle under control, but Spring is the time to watch for this weed and kill it before it spreads.
